Who Promotes My Show?

Important Reality Check: The Greater Manchester Fringe is a platform, not a PR agency.

We work tirelessly to promote the festival as a whole and get audiences to the venues, but selling tickets and promoting your specific show is entirely your responsibility.

To be clear: we cannot guarantee ticket sales or audience numbers.

Think of us as the stage, and you as the main act. We build the theatre; you need to bring the crowd.

Media Outreach & Show Promotion

Don't wait! We are here to help you make a splash.

Tip: Reach out to us early. We can't promote what we don't know about!

Posters, Flyers & GMF Branding

Distribution Strategy:

  • Prioritise your venue for initial placement.
  • Consider services like "The Bag Man" for wider Manchester reach.
  • Keep print runs minimal (save trees & money!).

City Centre Rules

1. Handing out Flyers

You NEED a permit from Manchester City Council. We secure a limited number of these permits on a first-come, first-served basis.

To request one (subject to availability), email: contact@greatermanchesterfringe.co.uk

2. Posters (Warning)

Do NOT put up posters in public spaces. This is classified as "fly-tipping" and carries a fine in Manchester. Stick to your venue or paid distribution services.

Logos:

Please include our official logo on your materials. You can download the full logo pack here:

Changing Listing Details

  1. Email us FIRST. We must unlock your application.
  2. Make your changes on Eventotron.
  3. Email us AGAIN. We need to know you've re-submitted.

Note: Website updates require a manual pull-through. We do not get automatic notifications of your edits.

Social Media & Cross-Posting

1

Use 'Invite Collaborator' on Instagram

Don't just tag us in the caption. Use the "Invite Collaborator" feature before you post. If we accept, your post appears directly on the GMFringe feed, instantly showing it to our entire audience.

2

Stories for Reposts

Tag @GMFringe in your Stories. This allows us to repost them to our own Story with one click. We try to share these daily during the festival.

The "Clean Video" Rule (TikTok vs Reels)

Algorithms now aggressively punish videos that have watermarks from other platforms.

  • Never download a TikTok (with the logo) and post it to Instagram Reels. Visibility will be cut.
  • Solution: Edit your video in a neutral app (using software such as Videoleap) or your phone gallery. Export the clean file, then upload that same file separately to both platforms.
