REFLECTION is informed by a lived experience of obsessive-compulsive disorder.
The play text was created during an episode of Severe OCD between 2021 and 2023. During this time, I kept a journal of the progress of the play along with my experience. After taking a year-long break from writing the material, I returned to it to find I no longer enjoyed what I had made. From this, the play text became a negotiation between myself, the material I was working from and all the versions of myself that were in it.
By combining the play text and journal entries, I was able to create a conversation between these two states while, in the process, bringing light to the lack of awareness surrounding Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, focusing on the subtype of existential OCD (Often referred to as matrix OCD).
