FLIGHT: One Man’s Journey is a powerful and intimate one-man play exploring identity, belonging, fear, and hope through vivid storytelling and rich theatrical imagery.
The story follows Maneek, a boy raised in a remote village on stilts, shadowed by tigers and governed by a strict, emotionally distant father. As his world expands beyond the boundaries of his childhood, Maneek journeys through hardship, love, migration, and cultural displacement in search of connection and a place to call home.
Blending humour with poignancy, the play moves fluidly between characters, memories, and landscapes. Through physical storytelling and strong visual symbolism, FLIGHT creates an immersive theatrical experience that speaks to universal struggles of family expectation, resilience, and self-determination.
Performed by Naz Sheikh, whose dynamic solo performance brings Maneek’s journey vividly to life, the production resonates with contemporary audiences navigating questions of identity and belonging. Created by Pricking Thumbs Theatre Company, FLIGHT champions bold, human-centred storytelling and under-represented voices.
